2 SCOTS

The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS) is based at Glencorse Barracks in Edinburgh. It is a Light Role Infantry Battalion.
2 SCOTS - the Second Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland - are a line infantry regiment which forms one of seven Battalions in the Royal Regiment of Scotland. They are based in Penicuik, Midlothian, about seven miles south of Edinburgh. They currently form part of 16 Air Assault Brigade, who were recently deployed on Op HERRICK 13 in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. This was their second operational tour of Helmand; their first being on Op HERRICK 8 in 2008.
2 SCOTS has a long and distinguished history dating back to 1678. They have gained a number of Battle Honours throughout this time and have fought in major battles from Blenheim to the Gulf War.
Today they continue to provide security in an increasing unstable world. They have been deployed frequently in the last decade in support of the UK Government and have served with distinction in every operation that they have been involved in.
They have recently completed a 6 month tour of duty to Helmand and enjoyed great success in their area of operation in and around the Provincial Capital of Lashkar Gah.
