The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS) is a light role infantry battalion based in Glencorse Barracks in Penicuik near Edinburgh. We are part of 51 Infantry (Scottish) Brigade . The Battalion prides itself on its professionalism and soldiering excellence and is presently training for operations.
In early 2015, 2SCOTS completed an overseas exercise in Kenya and throughout 2014 the Battalion was employed in a high readiness role as the UK Standby Battalion. 2 SCOTS most recent operational tour, in 2013, saw 400 soldiers deploy to Afghanistan in an advisory and liaison role with the Afghan Uniform Police.
Sport and adventure training play an important role for all ranks in 2 SCOTS. We recently won the Army Rugby Championship, finished runner up in the Army Boxing Cup, mounted an expedition to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, and sent soldiers sailing in the Mediterranean. We are planning a number of exciting adventure training expeditions for the near future.
The Royal Highland Fusiliers have a long and distinguished history dating back to 1678. Our predecessors have gained numerous Battle Honours fighting in major battles from Assaye in 1803 to the Gulf War in 1991. Today’s Fusiliers also have a wealth of operational experience having previously deployed to Afghanistan with 16 Air Assault Brigade in 2008 and 2011, and to Iraq in 2004 and 2005.
We are actively recruiting, offering unique career opportunities. Our officers and soldiers learn new skills and experiences in an adventurous, team-based environment. If you are seeking a challenging and exciting career with Scotland’s Infantry then apply online using the links on this website.
