The Regimental Association

The Yorkshire Regiment Association aims to promote a spirit of comradeship and pride in the traditions of the Regiment.

Objectives

  • To promote the efficiency of the Regiment by fostering esprit de corps, comradeship and the welfare of the Regiment and establishing and preserving its traditions.
  • To make recommendation, as necessary, to the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolence Case Committee, in order to provide relief either generally or individually, for members of the Association or past and present members of the Regiment, and their dependants, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.
  • To support recruiting by encouraging suitable young men to join the Regiment and by assisting the Regiment in its activities to promote awareness of the Regiment and its good name in its recruiting area.
  • To raise funds for the Yorkshire Regiment Charitable Trust

Membership

  • Ordinary Members. Membership is open to all past and serving members of the Regiment.
  • Honorary Members. Individual, not otherwise eligible as above, may be proposed for membership of the Association. See the constitution for more details.
  • Family Members. A Member's spouse, widow, or immediate family aged 18 or over shall be entitled to attend annual functions as though they were a member (no voting rights).

Membership is open to all Regular and TA Units of The Yorkshire Regiment and their antecedent Regiments (including The York and Lancaster Regiment) and all Cadet Detachments who wear the cap badge of The Yorkshire Regiment. Family membership is open to all wives, partners, widows and friends of the Regiment. For information about the rules and regulations, please read the Constitution.

Join the Regimental Association

It is free to join, just contact the Association Secretary (as below) to register and receive events detiails. Alternatively, you can download the Association Membership Form (see right) and return by post or fax. When there are sufficient members in a town or area, they could join together as a branch, but in the meantime there is one central branch.

You can buy an Association Lapel Badge (£3 each), they are available from the Regimental PRI or Museum Shops (Richmond or York).

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) usually takes place at the beginning of the calendar year at Worsley Barracks in York.
