Our People
We recruit from London and the South East. Our first 25 years have provided us with significant challenges, marked by operations where acts of bravery have been recognised publicly but where professional soldiering has been displayed throughout.
Our Location
The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment Headquarters is based at HM Tower of London. The PWRR can trace their origins back over 450 years to The Tower and the raising of the Trained Bands of London in 1572

Our Role
The role of the infantry is to hold the ground and continue to take the fight forwards. Our soldiers come from the South-East of England including London, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Middlesex, The Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.
As an infantry regiment, we are trained in dismounted close combat or fighting on foot (1 PWRR), specialised infantry trained to operate in small teams across the world (2 PWRR) and we are at the forefront of the Army Reserves equipped with the very latest equipment (3 and 4 PWRR).

1 PWRR
1 PWRR is a light role infantry battalion based in Woolwich, London since August 2021, prior to this they were based in Dhekelia, Cyprus. The Battalion is continually committed to UK and Overseas operations having just deployed to Kenya for 3 months as part of the Land Regional Hub for Africa, this involved Battle Group training and providing Short Term Training Teams across Africa, working with the militaries from a number of African countries. With the Battalion currently on high readiness to deploy anywhere in the world.
Through the years
The PWRR can trace its lineage back to the raising of the Trained Bands of London in 1572 and the Tangier Regiment in 1661. The modern Regiment has a proud history and came into being on 9 September 1992 with the amalgamation of the Queen's Regiment and the Royal Hampshire Regiment.
