The Battalion has a proud record of achievements which includes recent operational experience in Afghanistan and Iraq, in support of the Regular Army, and a deployment in Cyprus, supporting the United Nations’ mission.
3PWRR is currently ‘paired’ with 1st Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, based in Woolwich, as part of the restructured Army under the Army 2020 concept. As such we are on the cutting edge for Army Reserve units with the very latest kit now available across the Battalion.
The Battalion also boasts a fine Regimental Band based at its HQ in Canterbury.
Officers and soldiers of the Battalion take time away from their normal civilian employment, to train every Wednesday evening and one to two weekends each month. There is also a two-week training period conducted annually, which can take place either in the United Kingdom or abroad.
Roles within the Battalion are not just restricted to the infantry. The Battalion also employs both men and women in these roles:
• Combat Medics
Life in 3PWRR is not all about training, as with all army units there is a strong sense of family and a keen social life. There are great opportunities for sport and adventurous training too.
3PWRR is currently recruiting. If you are interested in joining contact your nearest Army Reserve Centre and arrange a visit. You should be aged between 18 and 43 and be physically fit. The Battalion is particularly interested in ex-regular personnel who would like to utilise their skills within the Army Reserve.
Do more, be more, become a TIGER – join 3PWRR.
Candidates for a Commission should be over 17 years and nine months and under 29 years-of-age on the date of entry to Sandhurst. Find out more about a Commission in PWRR here.
Whether you want to join or rejoin as a full-time or part-time infantryman, PWRR offers a unique range of roles and opportunities to acquire skills unmatched by any other infantry regiment.
