The Yorkshire Regiment

The Yorkshire Regiment (14th/15th, 19th and 33rd/76th Foot) is the infantry regiment of the North of England. It consists of three Regular Army Battalions (1st, 2nd and 3rd) and one Territorial Army Battalion (4th). We have a local recruiting and display team and numerous soldiers in training facilities in the United Kingdom and around the World.

Welcome to the Yorkshire Regiment

The regiment was formed on 6 June 2006 by the amalgamation of the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire (14th/15th Foot), the Green Howards (Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment) (19th Foot), The Duke of Wellington's Regiment (West Riding) (33rd/76th Foot) and associated Territorial Army units.

It is founded on more than 300 years of 'Yorkshire Warrior' tradition. It is united by common values, history and home and represents all that is best in the Army, in professionalism, in role, on operations, for career, for sport and for family.

We recruit soldiers with a strong sense of unity, duty and sporting prowess from our home of Yorkshire and the North East, but also nationwide and from the Commonwealth.

1st Battalion (1 YORKS)

1 YORKS is a Light Infantry roled battalion which operates with minimal transport, mostly on foot. It is equipped with the full range of small arms, mortars, anti tank weaponry and surveillance equipment, and is a versatile organisation that can work in support of Armoured and Mechanised brigades.

The 1st Battalion returned from Afghanistan and Operation HERRICK 15 in April 2012.
