The London Regiment is the only Territorial Army Regiment in the Guards Division and provides infantry soldiers to reinforce the five regiments of Foot Guards on operations.
It is the only TA Infantry Regiment based in London and over the last decade has maintained an unbroken presence on British military operations.
More than 420 London Regiment soldiers have deployed to Northern Ireland, the Falklands, Bosnia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Croatia, Iraq and Afghanistan and more than 100 soldiers are currently training to support further deployments to Afghanistan in 2014. The first London Regiment was raised in 1908 with 26 battalions, increasing to 92 battalions during the First World War, making it the largest regiment in the British Army and twice the size the Army is today.
Disbanded during the 1930s, the re-formed London Regiment remains unique as each rifle company wears the cap badge of its antecedent or affiliated Regiment - Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, London Scottish and London Irish Rifles. We have something to offer everyone - whether that's the challenge of staying physically fit, increasing leadership skills, developing great communication skills or deploying on demanding operational tours around the world.
We recruit from across the Greater London area with bases in Balham, Camberwell, Clapham, Edgware and Westminster as well as outstations in Blackheath, Catford, Kensington and Hornsey.
