Sport and Adventurous Training
Whilst life in the Regiment is busy, we like to take every opportunity to relax and enjoy ourselves. As well as regular fitness training, we like to compete in various sports both at the more informal, battalion level and also in larger Army-wide competitions.
Being a Welsh Regiment, we obviously take our rugby very seriously and are always serious contenders for the Army Cup (which we have won on a number of occasions), however, we also compete in a wide range of other sports including football, boxing, squash, sailing and skiing.
Royal Welsh Sport and Adventurous Training
We also aim to get our soldiers away on adventure training as often as possible. The aim of adventure training is, unlike regular sports, to present you with challenges you may not have to face on a regular basis.
It's a good way of developing teamwork, communication skills and the ability to think under pressure but hopefully have a good time as you do it.
This may be as simple as a weeks hill walking in Snowdonia but could be an expedition anywhere in the world. Recently, our soldiers have enjoyed trips away diving, climbing, kayaking and trekking.
