4th Battalion Medal Parade
The 4th Battalion held a Medal Parade on Saturday 11 July 2009 at the Knavesmire Racecourse, York. Operational medals were presented to twenty-six soldiers for service in Afghanistan and Iraq during 2008-2009.

A platoon of soldiers paraded in front of friends, family and race-goers to receive their medals for a six-month tour in Afghanistan on Operation HERRICK. The soldiers from Delta Platoon undertook a Force Protection role in Kabul where they guarded bases of NATO troops, patrolled the city and escorted convoys in the region.
Colonel Julian Fox TD DL, Deputy Colonel of the Regiment, presented operational medals to the spare-time Territorial Army soldiers for their six month tour in Afghanistan. On the parade they were joined by one soldier who had recently returned from Iraq, where he served with the 1st Battalion and he received his Operation TELIC medal.
The parade took place in the Parade Ring before the start of the
50th John Smith's Cup Meeting at the Knavesmire Racecourse. The ceremony was transmitted live on the racecourse tv station as well as rebroadcast on the Channel 4 Racing programme.
