The Colours
The Colours for the three battalions were designed by the College of Arms, approved by Her Majesty the Queen, Duke of Lancaster, our Colonel-in-Chief and presented by the Queen on 26th June 2008. All Battle Honours of the three antecedent regiments were carried forward into the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment and in selecting those to appear on the Colours, the Formation Committee were guided by the need to identify major actions, unique actions and those that involved all three Regiments. Finally the list was restricted to the number that it is possible to fit on each Colour. Shown below as examples are the approved designs for the Queen's and Regimental Colours of the 1st Battalion. The other two battalion differ only in that they bear the appropriate battalion number in the upper left canton.
The history and customs associated with the Colours, and direction on their correct handling is to be found in Section II of the Regimental Handbook.
