The 2nd Battalion

Working closely with the Afghan National Army and local people. The 2nd Battalion is based with its families in Episkopi in Cyprus and from there has deployed regularly to Afghanistan.

The 2nd Battalion (2 LANCS) is a Regular Army battalion, based until September 2011 with its families in Episkopi in Cyprus.  It has now moved to Weeton Barracks in Lancashire. 2 LANCS is a Light Role Battalion trained and equipped for fast, flexible operations, moving in a variety of transport including helicopters.  From August 2009 until November 2010, the 2nd Battalion carried out high intensity operations in Afghanistan as the Theatre Reserve Battalion.

As well as deploying to Afghanistan, 2 LANCS sends sports teams to compete in competitions away from Cyprus.
