22 February 2009 - RYHILL HAMMERS £5000 CHARITY BUS CHALLENGE. Regimental supporter and former Yorkshire Volunteer Bill Butterworth showed true Yorkshire spirit in galvanising his local rugby club into a charity challenge. The entire team turned out and supported by locals and the kind cooperation of Stagecoach, managed to pull an eleven ton bus over a two miles route to help provide funds for soldier and veterans of the regiment. The Hammers set off from The Fox pub in South Hiendley, to a finish line outside St James's Church in Ryhill and despite the 'hills' took 25 minutes to complete the route.
This fundraising event was one of many activities arranged by Bill Butterworth and other friends of the Regiment. On Friday 27th February, Ryhill hosts a caberet night which should add considerably to the £5000 the bus pullers hoped to have raised for the Yorkshire Regiment Charitable Fund. Well done and thanks for all your efforts.
