30 January 2009 - LORD MAYOR OF YORK VISITS RHQ AND PWO MUSEUM.  The Lord Mayor of the City of York Councilor Brian Watson and the Sheriff of York Honorary Alderman David Wilde, visited Regimental Headquarters to present the scroll marking the transfer of the Freedom of the City to the Regiment.  The city council voted in the transfer on 26 September 2006, but no suitable opportunity to present the scroll had presented itself until now.

The Regiment hopes to parade through the city in June 2010 shortly after receiving our new Colours.  Lieutenant Colonel David O'Kelly and Museum Curator Major Mike Sullivan, hosted the Mayor's party with a tour of the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire Museum.

The club invited the five - Liam Howden (aged 20), Sebastian Shaw (22), Lee Shaw (25), Brett Hattersley (26) and Chris Holland (28) - onto the pitch for a special welcome.  The five recently returned from Canada, having been on a major life firing exercise in Canada and will soon be deployed in Iraq as part of 20 Brigade.
