Clear beliefs

At the centre of the Mercian Regiment is a knowledge of what is right and what is wrong. We value courage, duty, honour and honesty above all else. And we will always treat our soldiers with respect.

A willingness to change

A modern Army needs to be able and willing to change. The Mercian Regiment will do this with flexible, no-nonsense, can-do willingness. We will put our hearts into everything we do. And we will be strong when there is doubt and think quickly in times of trouble.

A close-knit family

The Mercian Regiment is a family. Each soldier and officer can be sure the Regiment will be there for them in a time of need. The same applies to their families and members of the Regimental Association. 

Strength

Our name and service relies on our strength. Fitness supports everything we do - we cannot be seen as soldiers if we are not fit, both in mind and in body.

Belief in ourselves

We hold our heads high because we have much to be proud of. And we will be clear that there is no better infantry regiment in the British Army. Right from the start, every Mercian soldier will uphold our motto - Stand Firm, Strike Hard.
