18 MARCH 2010 - AUCTION OF LEEDS UNITED MEMORABILIA. The Yorkshire Regiment is auctioning a signed 2010 season Leeds United football which was signed by 18 of their players when they visited the Regiment on the 15 March 2010. This is a great opportunity for Leeds United fans to have their own signed football and all the money raised by this charity auction will be going to the Yorkshire Regiment Charitable Trust. The football can be found on Ebay, item number 120544673480, a signed shirt will also be auctioned at a later date.
15 MARCH 2010 - LEEDS UNITED COME TO STRENSALL. On Monday 15 March Leeds United first team came to visit the Yorkshire Regiment Recruiting Team in Strensall, York. During the visit they were taken over the assault course, given several team building exercises to complete, shooting on the indoor laser range.

To finnish the day off they were put through their paces on a team building gun run competition, where they had to dismantle a pretend cannon made of oil drums, logs and tyres then rebuild it at the far end of the field in relays, the day was long for the team but they came through it smiling and a good time was had by all.

13 MARCH 2010 - FREEDOM OF WAKEFIELD PARADE. On Saturday 13th March Soldiers of the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment marched with pride through the streets of Wakefield, with their Colours flying and bayonets fixed after receiving Freedom of the City. The Freedom of the City was presented by the Mayor of Wakefield, Heather Hudson in a ceremony outside Wakefield Cathedral. The parade was watched by hundreds of local onlookers who lined the streets.

Councillor Peter Box, who opened the proceedings outside the Cathedral said: "The regiment received very warm welcome from the people of Wakefield with hundreds lining the streets to show their support. It was an honour for me to represent the district's citizens and officially recognise the regiment's bravery and remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty."

10 MARCH 2010 - FREEDOM OF WAKEFIELD PARADE. On Saturday 13th March 2010 soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment will march their Colours through the streets of Wakefield to receive the Freedom of the City on behalf of The Yorkshire Regiment. The Freedom will be presented by the Mayor of Wakefield at 14.00 hours in the pedestrian precinct, outside the main entrance to Wakefield Cathedral. The parade will consist of two guards of 50 soldiers in each, a Colour Party and The Band of The King's Division.
5 MARCH 2010 - WARS OF THE ROSES UPDATE. Boxers and Soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment and The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment met at the training ground of Leeds United today for a training session and a photo opportunity to highlight the "Wars of the Roses" boxing match which takes place after the Leeds vs MK Doms match on the 24th April at Elland Road. 1 MARCH 2010 - WARS OF THE ROSES TWO. Wars of the Roses 2 will take place on the 24th April 2010 at Elland Road, home to Leeds United FC. It will be another night of Regimental boxing with The Yorkshire Regiment once again going head to head with The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment for victory in the Wars of the Roses. It will again feature a black tie dinner with musical accompaniment from a military band and a Corps of Drums. It promises to be another fantastic occasion. MARCH 2010 - 2 YORKS SOLDIER HELPS MAKES HISTORY. Lance Corporal Johnathan "Jono" Lee, 27 from Newark, Who lost his right leg below the knee in Helmand province in 2007 after his Snatch Land Rover was blown up, is one of 14 ex-servicemen with just 15 legs between them making history as the first all amputee sailing crew to compete in one of the worlds most prestigious yacht races. The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) Caribbean 600, an epic voyage that will push them to the limit. The crew range in age from 27 to 72 and hold ranks from private to colonel, but share an extraordinary bond which they describe as a fellowship of shared experience. The gruelling challenge, which will take up to four days over 605 nautical miles, looping round the Caribbean, starts at 10am tomorrow. To add to the pressure the boat, which has no special modifications to make it easier for them to control, had an eleventh-hour change of skipper after amputee Colin Rouse broke his remaining leg skiing and had to drop out.
