Adventurous Training Activities Skiing

The Joint Service Ski Scheme is delivered from dedicated centres both in the UK and overseas, to meet the AT Aim through the delivery of structured courses that seek to develop the requisite skills and techniques necessary to

  • To train personnel to ski safely and competently.

Examples of Skiing courses on offer include.

  • Basic Ski Proficiency (Alpine) (BSA), a 5-day course for personnel with no previous skiing experience.
  • Ski Tour Proficiency (STP), a 5-day course that builds directly from the BSA/BSN.  
  • Ski Tour Leader Training (TLT), a 5-day course to teach the techniques required to lead on piste and ski tour expeditions.
  • Ski Mountain Leader Training (SMT), a 10-day course to train personnel in the techniques required to lead groups on ski mountaineering expeditions.
  • Joint Service Ski Instructor (Nordic) (SIN), a 5-day course to train, assess and qualify service personnel as Nordic Ski Instructors.
