Army Sailing Association
The ASA was formed in 1947 to manage sailing as a sport within the Army and to represent its interests at Service and national level. It caters for all sailing disciplines, including offshore and inshore yacht racing, dinghy and keel-boat racing and windsurfing. With Club membership of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), the ASA is a Recognised Training Centre and entitled to run RYA sail training and power-boating courses.
The Association runs two sailing centres: the Army Offshore Sailing Centre and the Army Dinghy and Windsurfing Centre. The Offshore Centre operates in partnership with the Royal Navy Sailing Association (RNSA) at Gosport and enjoys some dedicated marina berthing. The Dinghy and Windsurfing Centre has only recently moved to Thorney Island from Netley (2008).
Twenty other military and regimental clubs operate with the support of the Association and provide training and racing opportunities across Great Britain, North West Eurpore, Cyprus, Belize and the Falkland Islands.
