Soldiers attending a presentation from CGS's Briefing Team

Investing in our people

The Chief of the General Staff's (CGS) Briefing Team is geared towards an internal audience.

They are responsible for communicating key messages and information to the Army, soldiers' families and selected civil servants. They also play a crucial role in gauging and gathering views and opinions of all soldiers and their families and relaying those views direct to the Chief of the General Staff - the Head of the Army.

The Team also produces an annual written report summarising the issues and feedback raised by soldiers and their families during their visits. The report receives comment on each issue by the Chief of the General Staff himself.

How we do it

CGS's Briefing Team visit every unit, regular and territorial, once every two years - no matter where they are in the world. They start with a central briefing on what the Army is doing now, and what is planned for the future. Feedback sessions follow the presentation.

The Team also briefs Army families - this can be arranged at a time to suit individual units and families.

Why we do it

Feedback from soldiers and families is highly valued by Chief of the General Staff and has led to policy initiatives, the procurement of better equipment and changes to terms of service.

Territorial Army Briefing Team

The Territorial Army (TA) Briefing Team is part of the Chief of the General Staff's Briefing Team. Their role is to provide greater and more direct internal communication between the senior leadership of the Army and the junior ranks and families of those serving in the TA.

The TA Briefing Team aims to visit all TA Units over a rolling two year programme. The team deliver a central briefing that lasts about an hour, followed by an honest and open feedback session.

They can deliver their presentation pretty much anywhere and can be booked using the Contact Us link.
