Adventurous Training

Adventurous Training (AT) is a valuable addition to formal military training, helping support the values and standards of the British Army. When properly conducted it enhances an individual's ability to withstand the rigours of operations and rapid deployments.

Access to AT is open to all servicemen and women, including the injured and disabled who are able to participate through the Battle Back initiative.

The Aim of Joint Service Adventurous Training

“Develop individual courage and leadership skills through controlled exposure to risk in a challenging outdoor environment in order to enhance Operational Capability”

The Definition of Adventurous Training

"Challenging outdoor training for Service personnel in specified adventurous activities that incorporates controlled exposure to risk, in order to develop: leadership; teamwork; physical fitness; moral and physical courage; as well as other personal attributes and skills that are vital to the delivery of Operational Capability."
