A career as a Chaplain

The Army employs male and female chaplains in the Regular Army, the Territorial Army, and the Army Cadet Force. It also engages some local civilian clergy as Officiating Chaplains. The following pages set out to give you an insight into these vocations.

To become an Army Cadet Force Chaplain you will need to be an ordained member of one of the following sending churches: Church of England (Incorporating the Anglican Communion); Church of Scotland (With the Presbyterian Church of Ireland); Roman Catholic Church; Methodist Church; United Board (Incorporating the Baptist Union, the United Reformed Church, the Congregational Church, Elim or Assemblies of God).
