Maintain the Firm Base in Nepal in order to enable Gurkha recruiting and welfare services.
RECRUITMENT
Online Registration: Interested PRs joining the British Army and Singapore Police Force will need to register their name online prior to physical registration. The link will be provided on our website and the online registration period will be 01 to 29 March 2024. The call-forward list for Phase 1 (Registration) will be published on the British Gurkhas Nepal website on 03 April 2024.
Phase 1 (Registration) is a ten-week phase comprising a full day’s programme attended by candidates who have provided all required information during online registration. Phase 1 (Registration) will be held at British Gurkhas Pokhara and British Gurkhas Dharan between 22 April 2024 and 28 June 2024, and Area Welfare Centre (AWC Bheri) in Surkhet from 22 April 2024 to 29 May 2024. The call-forward list for Phase 2 (Initial Selection) will be published on the British Gurkhas Nepal website on 03 July 2024.
Phase 2 (Initial Selection) is a five-week phase comprising a full day’s programme attended by successful PRs from Phase 1 (Registration). This will be a combined BA & GCSPF Phase 2 (Initial Selection), which will be held at British Gurkhas Pokhara. The dates for combined selection will be between 04 September and 06 October 2024. PRs are scored and placed in an Order of Merit (OOM), which is published on an online call-forward list which will be published on 07 October 2024 for Phase 3 (Final Selection).
Phase 3 (Final Selection) is a five-week phase comprising a four-day programme attended by successful PRs from Phase 2 (Initial Selection) and acts as the final filter to select those suitable for service in the GCSPF and BA. The dates for the Phase 3 (Final Selection) will be from 28 November to 11 December 2024 for GCSPF and from 07 January to 03 February 2025.
Serving Soldier Welfare
Brigade and Unit Welfare Officer (BUWO)
- Investigate and send Compassionate Case Signals to Joint Casualty and Compassionate Cell (JCCC).
- Maintain Serving Personnel contacts those on leave in Nepal and investigate leave extensions.
- NOTICAS, DILFOR, Repatriations, and provide after care services.
- Conduct BMRC and deal with marital disputes in Nepal.
- Assist dependent for UK VISA documentation and call forward for Brunei Garrison.
- Perform normal Unit Welfare Officer’s task for BGN Serving Personnel.

BGN VETERAN SERVICES
We provide free services and support to Gurkha Veterans and their eligible dependants on issues relating to their records and UK settlement matters in addition to administering pension payments to pensioners on Gurkha Pension Scheme and Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force pensioners.
These services are offered through BGN Veteran Service Departments; namely: Gurkha Veterans’ Advice Centres (GVAC) in Kathmandu/ Pokhara/Dharan/Butwal, Darjeeling Veterans’ Advice Centre (DVAC), Gurkha Settlement Office (GSO) in Kathmandu and Records Office in Pokhara.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PENSIONERS
Due to unreliability of postal services, we have started sending Life Certificates to overseas pensioners through emails and found this method to be very effective. We are aiming to capture everyone living abroad this way by the end of this year. Hence, we encourage all pensioners to update their email addresses with us where possible – this will allow us to send pensioners not only the life certificates but also expiry notices in good time. You can also download the form from this website. Pensioners in Nepal are required to visit GVACs for Life Certificate renewals as far as is practicable.
