De Havilland Chipmunk T10

De Havilland Chipmunk T10 - WD325

The most recent aircraft to join the Army Historic Aircraft Flight (AHAF) was the De Havilland Chipmunk T10, WD 325. The Chipmunk holds many fond memories for all Army pilots, as it was this type that was used as the basic trainer on all Army pilot courses since the early 1950s. WD325 was one of the first aircraft to be delivered to Middle Wallop arriving in 1953.

At its peak the School of Army Aviation, now the Army Aviation Centre (AACen), operated 21 aircraft and these were in daily use prior to their out-of-service date of March 1997.
