Army Air Corps Association
The Army Air Corps Association (AACA) was formed in 1958 to bring together all those who had previously served with the Air Observation Post Squadrons and Glider Pilot Regiment along with those serving with the Army Air Corps since it formed up on 1st September 1957.
The aims of the Association are to:
- Promote a lasting bond of comradeship between all those who are serving, or have served in Army flying, regardless of Service Branch, Regiment or Corps capbadge.
- Make recommendations to the AAC Committee and other associations, and welfare/benevolent agencies on behalf of AAC veterans and dependants during difficulty or hardship.
- Represent the interests of the AAC as directed by the Regimental Committee.
Anyone who is currently serving, or who has served with Army Aviation in any capacity may apply for membership of the Association. This includes Commonwealth or foreign personnel who have served on attachment or in an exchange appointment and civilians whose work is connected with Army Aviation.
The Association is run by a Council which is representative of the whole membership with the Director Army Aviation being President and the Regimental Colonel as Chairman. It may assist veterans that are in need through the Army Air Corps Fund, keeps members in touch via the Army Air Corps Journal, Newsletter and e-mail and represents the interests of Army Aviation. Membership costs £15.00 per year and an application form is available here or from the AACA Secretary.
There are regional AACA Branches covering Australia, Canada, and areas within the United Kingdom. Further information on local branches can be obtained from the AACA Secretary.
The Air Observation Post Officers Association (AOPOA) and Glider Pilot Regiment Association (GPRA) are affiliated to the AACA.
