4 Regt RA

4 Regt
Fire Support Teams (FSTs)
Our regiment is organised into Fire Support Teams (FSTs) to find the enemy and our gun batteries provide the firepower for the strike. Our FSTs find the enemy on the battlefield in Warrior Observation Post Vehicles, using lasers, thermal observation and night vision equipment.  Our three gun batteries are equipped with 18 AS90 self propelled guns, capable of firing over 24 km.  Once the enemy location is identified, the FST coordinates guns, mortars, attack helicopters and fast jets to deliver a devastating strike.  We have served with AS90 in Iraq and Light Gun in Afghanistan.

North East Gunners
4 Regiment Royal Artillery, also known as the "North East Gunners" is one of the 16 regular regiments which make up the Royal Regiment of Artillery within the British Army.  There are about 500 officers and soldiers in the Regiment at any given time and as our name suggests, many come from the North East of England although there are plenty from elsewhere.  The Regiment is split into three gun batteries and one Headquarters Battery, 3/29 (Corunna) Battery, 88 (Arracan) Battery, 94/Headquarters (New Zealand) Battery, and 97 Battery (Lawson's Company).
