Officer Profile
Major Tony Meagor (30) is currently serving as Regimental Signals Officer (RSO) at 1 RHA, following two tours at 4 Regt RA and ATR (Pirbright).
"Since arriving at 1 RHA in January 2007, I have been constantly challenged and have experienced many new exciting opportunities. The Regiment was faced with the challenge of its second operational tour of Iraq in the heat of summer. I was employed as a Forward Observation Officer (FOO) working in the Joint Fires Cell.

I am now facing an even bigger challenge as I am currently serving in Afghanistan. I am the senior Artillery representative working in the Joint Ops Cell (JOC). My job is to help co-ordinate all the coalition artillery and air assets operating in support of troops working in Helmand.
In between duty I have participated in a Battlefield Study of Monte Cassino where we studied the use of artillery and applied lessons learned in history to those we face in modern day environments. On the sporting pitch, I was on the annual Regimental Cricket tour in Malta and have represented the Gunners in the Corps level Premier Division Cricket league.
As well as my Artillery responsibilities, I am also the Unit Press Officer. Following my media training, I was involved in the visit of the Queen to the official opening of the Royal Artillery Barracks, Larkhill, as the home of the Gunners.
I was born in Plymouth, Devon, where I went to Hele's School Plympton. I was an active member of the School's Cadet Force and had my first experience of the Army when I took part in a work experience week at Bovington Camp. I went to the University of the West of England (UWE) where I studied Geography. Whilst at UWE, I joined the Gun Troop at Bristol University Officer Training Corps (OTC) and participated in numerous infantry and Gunner exercise ranging from Salisbury Plain to Gibraltar. My involvement with the OTC helped me to secure a place at Sandhurst and a military financial bursary towards my university studies.
Upon my return from Afghanistan I have a period of leave before returning to Malta with the Regimental Cricket Team and visiting Stalingrad on a battlefield tour."
