Soldier Profile
Gunner Chadley Thomas Poole from Towyn North Wales. I am currently based in Newcastle Upon Tyne with 39 Regiment Royal Artillery 'The Welsh Gunners'.
A Welsh boy through and through I attended a local high school called Emrys ap Iwan up to the age of 16. When I left school I tried my hand at several jobs but these proved to be dull and repetitive, same thing all day every day. I did not find any of them challenging enough and decided to join the Army
I have been in the Army now for 2 and a half years and I am really enjoying it. In this time I have completed phase 1 basic training at Pirbright and phase 2 artillery training at Larkhill. Both of these were very challenging and demanding; but the instructors were very supportive and always guided us in the right direction.
I have also passed my driving test and received training in cross country driving in military land rovers. I completed my level 2 Multiple Launch Rocket System course which enables me to fire the system as the operator which I continue to enjoy. I have also been on operations in Afghanistan for 6 months, which I found very exciting and rewarding.
The benefit to being in the Army is meeting new people and having great friends, in a challenging and exciting career. I enjoy what I do.
