High Velocity Missile (HVM) System
Our regiment is equipped with the deadly High Velocity Missile (HVM) System. HVM flies at twice the speed of sound, and is mounted on the Stormer armoured vehicle. Our highly skilled soldiers protect 1 (United Kingdom) Armoured Division from air attack. These same soldiers are also trained to fly the Desert Hawk Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV). This is basically a spy plane, launched by hand. The camera, with an X-Box controller, streams down a real-time, live video image of the battlefield to a rugged laptop.  Our soldiers deliver this support to infantry combat operations in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Desert Hawk 3
12 Regiment provides close air defence protection for 1 (UK) Armoured Division using the High Velocity Missile System (HVM).  As armoured warfare specialists, the unit is capable of destroying fast attack aircraft and helicopters in flight.  The job requires you to work as part of a four-person crew alongside infantry and tank units on the battlefield, protecting British and allied troops from air attack. HVM Gunners are also required to find the best location for their weapon system, and make snap decisions about potential targets.  The soldiers of 12 Regiment are highly trained, highly skilled individuals who operate very technical equipment in arduous conditions. This is the result out of dedication, hard work and quality training.  As well as being air defence experts, soldiers in 12 Regiment are dual trained to operate the Desert Hawk 3 (DH- 3 mini unmanned air vehicle) which is currently used in Iraq and Afghanistan.
