Soldier Profile
I was recruited from Doncaster South Yorkshire and currently work as a Logistics Bombardier. As a Gunner I worked on the FSB 2 towed Rapier Air Defence system. Now in the Quarter Master Stores of 12 Regiment RA, I am responsible for the accommodation and the Battery Armoury. Some of my most rewarding experiences have been assisting on various exercises in Canada, Poland and Germany ensuring the troops have plenty of stores, ammunition, rations and water. These were fantastic opportunities to be deployed and see the world.
I progressed in my career to Lance Bombardier. I was the Regimental Fuels and Lubricants accountant once again working in the Quartermasters section. I kept the regimental servicing bay replenished with oils and lubricants and the vehicles well maintained and serviceable. Shortly after I found myself being posted to Cyprus. I worked with United Nations forces for 6 months. I was responsible for the regimental clothing account. This was a great success that I really enjoyed.
I was recently promoted to Bombardier pictured here in my mess dress standing outside the mess. I now work in the transport section for the Battery headquarters. I supervise the daily maintenance and servicing vehicles. The daily routine can be busy as vehicles are always called upon to be used for various tasks and Operations. This can vary from teaching students how to drive to deploying a vehicle and crew to Afghanistan. Students who have passed their civilian driving test are sent to me to train them how to use military vehicles. I teach cross country driving which I find very rewarding. The students get a great deal of off road experience.
My aspirations for the future are to become a Military Transport Sergeant in the Royal Artillery and then an instructor at the driver training school in Bovington. One day I would like to become a Sergeant Major and the first female Master Driver.
