HVM Firing
September 2009 the regiment converts from HVM to Desert Hawk 3, a specialist role which is very much in demand. The regiment will be training for operations.
Spring 2009 there will be elements of the regiment serving in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
Thorney Island is home to the Royal Artillery Water-sports Centre and many of the soldiers are keen sailors, kite and windsurfers. Facilities are superb. Thorney Island is the sailing centre of excellence as well as a teaching facility.
Between operations and training exercises soldiers regularly deploy on adventure activities in the UK and abroad.
