105 Regiment RA (V) Soldier

Bombardier Michael Doyle
"I am Bombardier Michael Doyle and have been a serving soldier in The Territorial Army since 2002, serving with 105th Regiment RA. I joined the TA because I wanted a variety in life that a civilian job could not provide and that I felt I could get the best of the army without giving up my home life, something very important to me as I have a young family.
After completing my basic training, I trained as a HVM Gunner and deployed on exercise to various places such as Gibraltar, Cyprus and The USA. During this time I also worked towards becoming 207 Battery Physical Training Instructor.
After another busy few years I attended and passed my first Potential Junior Non Commissioned Officer (PJNCO) Cadre. I was proud to be promoted to Lance Bombardier in 2004.
Shortly after the Regiment was to re role from an Air Defence Regiment to a Close Support Artillery one. A very busy period of courses and live fire exercises followed and I subsequently qualified as a Light Gun Detachment second in command (2iC) or also known as a Coverer.
I passed my second JNCO Cadre in February 2009 and was then offered a post with the Regular Army Recruiting Team in Glasgow for 2 years, which I immediately followed with a deployment to Afghanistan with 29th (Commando) Regiment RA in 2010.
After returning from Afghanistan in September 2011 I returned to 105 RA and was promoted to Bombardier and now have the position of 207 Battery recruiting NCO."
