Royal Artillery Centre for Personal Development
The Royal Artillery Centre for Personal Development (RA CPD)
The Royal Artillery Centre for Personal Development (RA CPD) is based at the Royal Artillery Barracks, Larkhill, under the direction of the Headquarters Director Royal Artillery. Now in its fourteenth year, the RA CPD offers a range of vocational and professional qualifications in regiments, through the Regimental Army Learning Centres (RALCs) and at the Royal School of Artillery (RSA).
Here's just a taste of what we can offer you:
Leadership and Management qualifications
As you progress through your military career we will train you to lead and manage your soldiers. We match this military training with opportunities to gain civilian management qualifications, throughout every stage of your career.
Information Technology qualifications
We are the only part of the Army that has a state-of-the-art IT Learning Centre in every one of our regiments. Here, you can study for a range of ICT qualifications.

Telecommunications qualifications
All Gunners use radios and telecommunications systems. We make sure that you have the opportunity to transfer your military skills into national vocational qualifications at levels 2 to 4.
Logistics qualifications
Not only will you have the chance to gain apprenticeships and NVQs in Transport, and Distribution, Stores and Warehousing, we also offer you additional opportunities to develop your advanced driving skills. You can become a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists - the best news is that we pay for your training, and test and membership fees!
Learning and Development qualifications
It is very likely that you will, at some point during your career, be an instructor. We will give you the opportunity to gain civilian teaching qualifications.
Horse Care qualifications
If you join The King's Troop RHA, you will be offered the opportunity for an apprenticeship in Horse Care. We also provide qualifications in Equine Transport.
Paying for your qualifications
Most qualifications offered are free or are very heavily subsidised by the Gunners. The Army offers generous annual allowances for your personal development, and an enhanced allowance which could be worth up to £6,000 after 8 years' service.
