Royal Artillery Adventure Trg Centre
Organisation
The Royal Artillery Adventure Training Centre is at Capel Curig Training Camp near Betws-y-Coed north Wales and will soon become the Army Level 2 Adventure Training Centre.
Adventure Training
The RAATC offers many activities through the week and ensures a multi activity group will have the utmost fun, however the Centre also offers basic training courses so groups will depart with a qualification and in some instances, they will be able to teach their peers. Courses available are the Kayak Foundation Course, the Open Canoe Foundation Course, Summer Mountain Proficiency, Mountain Leader Training, and Rock Climbing Proficiency.
Activities
The instructors are qualified to take groups hill walking, rock climbing, kayaking, open boating, mountain biking, sailing, caving and coasteering. Please note the nearest caves are 1 hour away, mountain bikes are not provided but can be hired locally, external instructors are required for sailing thus availability may be reduced and coasteering reduces instructor to student ratio from 1:6 to 1:3, this will greatly reduce your numbers. There are other activities provided locally at a cost such as high ropes and white water rafting.
Instructors
The RAATC currently has three instructors. These soldiers provide fantastic days out in the hills through exhilarating, fun and challenging experiences.
