Paul Birmingham

My name is Paul Birmingham,  I am 26 years old and I have been in the British army for about 5 years.

When I arrived at the regiment I was in A Squadronn at Warminster were I was on tanks for 15 months taking part in numerous exercises, some of these have enabled me to travel to the likes of Europe and Canada.

I was then posted To RAF Honnington, where learned about NBC, and was then deployed to Iraq as part of a light role team in Basra for a tour of 6 months.

I am currently on the national development squad, were I am training in hope to become part of the Great British Biathlon team, to compete in the winter Olympics in 2014.

I am still part of the regiment ski team and this is where I developed my passion for Biathlon.  Every winter we are given he oppourtunity as part of the team to travel to Europe for 3 months where we develop as a team and compete against other regiments.

Being in the army has enabled me to increase my fitness to a very high standard, by being able to utilise the gym on camp, and taking advantage of the physical training that the Army demands.
