Congratulations to 2Lt Scott Fisher and 2Lt Craig Went on successfully completing the TA Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on Saturday 1st October 2011.

Welcome to the Tayforth UOTC microsite. The site aims to give you a little taste of what we have to offer but just that. The best way to find out more and is to come and see us. So please use the contact numbers to get in touch.

Tayforth UOTC comprises of three detachments based in St Andrews, Dundee and Stirling and caters for students from the four universities in these town and cities. The weekly evening meetings are by detachment but all the detachments come together for their various weekend camps and the two longer camps in January and May/June.

It is a great organisation and offers a really good insight into the Army. Importantly, it does not exist to recruit but rather "To develop the leadership potential of selected university students, raising awareness of the Army’s ethos and building interest in its career opportunities; in order to secure their commitment, whether as officers or as future leaders in their chosen profession, to champion the Army in Society." The training is progressive and varied, offering a challenging mix of leadership development, military skills, adventure training, sporting competition and for those with a musical bent the Pipes and Drums.

I have no doubts that you will benefit a lot from becoming a member. However, with only 134 places across 4 universities there is not room for everyone and an element of selection is necessary.

So if you think you have what it takes to become a member, then get in touch. Normally, we only recruit in the September of each year, during Freshers Fairs. However, if you have a military experience gained perhaps in the Combined Cadet Force or Territorial Army from before going to university, we may be able to take you outside the normal recruiting period.

So please now have a quick look at the rest of the site and if, at the end, you are still interested please contact us via one of the numbers below or via the email address provided.

Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy Bagshaw COLDM GDS, Commanding Officer, Tayforth UOTC.
