Aberdeen
Commanding Officer's Welcome
Welcome to the web pages of Aberdeen Universities' Officers Training Corps. I would like to take this opportunity to explain what the AUOTC is about and what it can do for you.
It is an organisation that is designed to make you, the individual, better prepared for the future. We will offer you the opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills and we will give you a taste for responsibility so that you may find it easier to get that job once you have graduated.
How do we do it? Browsing through these pages will give you a feel for that, but in essence, we will challenge you. We will put you in situations where you will have a chance to test your leadership and organisational capabilities, but not before we have armed you with some tools to allow you to do it successfully.
We will also teach you the Army's core values and standards which we believe will make you a better person when working in a team - wherever that may be.
We want you to leave us with something to show for your participation and your hard work. Therefore, AUOTC will introduce a new scheme in 2008 offering 40 additional credits depending on University and Course.
In some cases this will contribute to the final degree in others, this will be detailed on the final degree certification as an extra credit. As well as this, we are accrediting the syllabus with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) allowing you to gain a Level 4 Introductory Diploma in Leadership and Management - a definite boost to your CV.
In summary, we offer a unique opportunity to develop yourself and improve your CV and employability, and through challenging yourself learning something about you and those around you. And, believe it or not, you will have fun whilst you do it.
