Bristol UOTC
Bristol University Officers' Training Corps (BUOTC) is to develop the leadership potential of selected university students raising awareness of the Army's ethos and building interest in its career opportunities; in order to secure their commitment whether as officers or as future leaders in their chosen profession to champion the Army in society.
Bristol University Officer Training Corps (BUOTC) is one of 19 University OTCs. It mainly serves the Universities of Bristol, Bath and UWE.
If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student you can apply to join. Ideally you should have at least 2 years left at University. Each year applicants are invited to attend a Selection Weekend to see if they like what they see and also to see if they have what it takes!
Bristol UOTC offers a programme of activities based on military training, adventurous training, sport and social events. Our training is both challenging and fun and its variety ensure we provide something for everyone. It all starts at the very basic levels; every aspect of the training supports a 3 year development programme:
Year One: Introducing Leadership
Year Two: Developing Leadership
Year Three: Performing Leadership.
We structure our programme to suit the academic timetables of our universities. The training takes place on Wednesday evenings and specified weekends.
Time with us does not end with graduation, through our Alumni Association our OCdts keep in touch with each other and maintain strong friendships that develop while within the UOTC. We hold annual Alumni Dinner nights, which all ex-members are invited to join.
If you are interested and would like to know more about our UOTC, then come and see us at our stand at the next Freshers' Fayre.
