Regimental Association
With its origins in The Old Wyvernians formed in May 1976, Tayforth Universities Office Training Corps Regimental Association held its inaugural meeting on 16 June 1984.
While many other University OTCs have followed its lead, Tayforth's is thus the oldest such Regimental Association in the United Kingdom.
The Association's aim was confirmed in its Constitution, revised in 2005: to promote friendly relations between Members and with Tayforth Universities OTC the "Contingent" by the provision of regular newsletters, by reunion meetings, and by such other activities as may be deemed appropriate.
Besides ex-officio members (the current Commanding Officer, Adjutant, Senior Under Officer and a representative of the Military Education Committee) and honorary members (the honorary Colonel, past honorary Colonels and the principals of the universities of St Andrews, Stirling, and Abertay Dundee) there are two categories of membership.
Irrespective of rank, all former members of the Contingent and its predecessor formations, former attached personnel and former members of Tayforth Universities MEC are eligible for Ordinary membership.
For as long as they are enlisted in the Contingent, serving Officer Cadets are eligible for Associate membership. The small annual fee for such membership is currently paid by the Contingent to the Association.
On leaving the Contingent, Associate members retain that membership free of charge for three years, after which time they are encouraged to become Ordinary members at the subscription rate then current.
The Association's AGM is held between 30 April and 30 June of each year, the date and venue being announced in the newsletter and on this page.
The 2007 AGM took place on 1 May in the Officers' Mess, Park Wynd, Dundee, by kind permission of the Commanding Officer, at which the following office-bearers were re-elected:
- President: Major (Retired) Alan Robertson
- Hon Secretary: Lt Col (Retired) Sandy Cram TD
- Hon Treasurer: Mr John Matthews OBE
- Minutes Secretary: Mrs Shona Macleod
- London Secretary: Pipe Major Ian King MVO
- Newsletter Editor: Mrs Justine Greenway
