The United Kingdom Mines Information & Training Centre (UK MITC) is the focal point for Tri-Services Mines Awareness Training.

Sponsored by the Battlefield Engineering Wing at Minley in Surrey it carries out training and provides advice with a view to reducing the risk of landmine casualties to both civilians and military personnel.

MITC responsibilities include:

The Personal Minefield Extraction Kit (P-MEK)

3 Commando Brigade was the first UK unit deploying to Afghanistan to be issued the new Personal Minefield Extraction Kit (P-MEK). This new kit provides individuals the training, equipment and confidence to self-extract from a legacy minefield or a mine-strike situation.
